Visual Artist

Luanne Mitchelmore is a Sydney-based artist with a background in art education. Luanne works with various drawing materials, favouring pastel pencil, graphite, and charcoal. Her interest is in landscape, particularly urban scenes she holds a connection to. She seeks out old houses when she travels to coastal and country towns. Luanne photographs and draws the houses, capturing their colours with her chalky pastel pencils. Luanne admires the small scale of the buildings, their bright colours and the textures of their gardens. Many of Australia’s old houses and places are disappearing. Luanne’s drawings are a way of celebrating and preserving them. She has been recognised in various local and national art prizes.
